Dear Nigerian,
Now that you live abroad
I hope you know that you are better
than those back home
Each time you talk about that country
Make sure that you wag your head in despair
Shake it very well
Forget that you come from that country
Thank God that He rescued you
out of the mouth of the lion
How do people survive in a place like that? God forbid
Now that you live abroad
You have arrived
Their actual fada
Who told you that you would never make it in this life?
Na only you one
Scatter social media with unsolicited updates about your weekend
Break the internet with pictures nobody asked you for
How will they know that you have made it if you don't pose for a picture in the snow?
Dear Nigerian,
Now that you live abroad
You have two heads
You are better,
far better,
than your countryman
Forget gratitude
Forget humility
You made it, after all, all by yourself
By hook and by crook
You escaped the torment that is Nigeria
Ran to another man's country like your own was on fire
Look at you now:
Better, far better, than those back home
